What is a Socratic Seminar?

A Socratic Seminar is a student-led discussion based on a prompt.
Students facilitate the conversation based on questions, reactions and thoughts that they have. It is a great way to challenge students with higher order thinking and allow them to express themselves.

The Socratic Circle is 3 Modules and a Resource Library.

Module 1: Introduction to Socratic Seminar
Everything you need to know about Socratic Seminars in Spanish Class. Here you will learn about what a Socratic Seminar is, how to set up your class to hold a Socratic Seminar and how you can prepare your students for success.

Module 2:The Prompt
In this Module you will learn how to choose level appropriate prompts, you will see examples of prompts and you will learn how to write your own prompts for your classes. The success of a Socratic Seminar greatly relies on an appropriate prompt.

Module 3: Leveling Up
Once you understand the basics and have gotten down how to run a Socratic Seminar, learn how to make your future Socratics run smoothly and how to keep challenging your students as they grow in their proficiency.
